Restoring smiles of women that have undergone breast removal in Uganda , a breast prosthesis initiative.

In Uganda ,women without breasts are often stigmatized in their communities especially when their chests look lope-sided in the case of those who have lost one of the breasts or flat-chested for those who have both breasts removed due to breast cancer surgery.

The number of women needing prostheses after mastectomy has been steadily increasing as with the number of breast cancer cases and other related diseases. An alternative to breast reconstruction is artifical breasts which are being locally made here in Uganda here at the cost of 40,000 Uganda shillings per breast. However this remains high for many of the patients who are already facing financial challenges due to the nature of cancer treatment.
