WHO calls on partners to strengthen health systems for better cancer control in Uganda

The world Health Organisation joined stakeholders in Uganda to a joint commemoration of the 2022 World Cancer Day (ICCD) and International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) at an event held at Uganda Cancer Institute. Speaking at the event, the WHO Uganda Country Office represented by Dr. Bayo called for more focus on health financing, human resources in terms of recruitment, training and remuneration, and putting in place a robust monitoring and evaluation system. He pledged to continue to work with the Government of Uganda, Ministry of Health and civil society partners led by Uganda Cancer Society towards creating an enabling policy environment, and to harness commitment by other international partners to provide more support towards the fight against cancer.
