Position Description: A Social Media Support Assistant oversees UCS twitter, Facebook and SMS messaging and whatsapp platforms as and when directed by the Programs Officer. The Assistant is responsible for answering the telephone, taking messages, doing minor troubleshooting, and calling the appropriate individual/supervisor when problems occur. An Assistant assists users with applications such as Word and provides assistance in using the Internet, but is not expected to provide formal instruction to users.
Diploma in any ICT related discipline or academic programme (Computer Science, IT, Computer Education etc.) obtained from a reputable academic institution. A Social Media Assistant must be able to communicate effectively in English, in person and on the telephone. The ability to speak a second language is a plus. Assistant must be familiar with computer hardware, software, and peripherals, and be able to perform minor troubleshooting routines. A sufficient understanding and hands-on experience of Word and the Internet is needed to be able to help users get started. Assistant must be well grounded in Social media communications, and should be willing to perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Length of Commitment:
A Social Media Assistant is expected to work 48 hours a week. An attendant must also be able to attend a scheduled two-hour orientation program before starting.
