We delivered on 30th July 2020, the first set of emergency support services for cancer patient’s hostels and cancer organisations, who are our members that are offering direct support to cancer patients in Uganda. The visit to Cancer Charity Foundation (CCF) saw items such as foodstuff, PPEs, and assorted sanitary materials to support cancer patients who are in their care and are receiving free accommodation, meals, psychosocial and transport services as they seek treatment at Uganda Cancer Institute. We noted that patients that were suck upcountry could not travel back to seek treatment and care at Uganda Cancer Institute. As reported by a one Opio, a cancer patient residing at the hostel, some of his colleagues could not return as transport fares had been hiked. Similarly, some of them could not acquire medicines which were prescribed for them to buy from private owned medical facilities as such medicines were not at UCI.
